hum... ok i will try to explain ^^ my black and white pictures are not like that ! look at this for example: [link] You see ? my picture is more white and grey whereas your picture is more black... it's not the same impression....
(say to me if you don't understand :s)

Ok,yes I understand, your pic is what looks like a straight forward Greyscale conversion (I see you used GIMP) but if you had a decent editing program (Photoshop3,4 or 5 or Paint Shop Pro X2 for example) you can use the "Burn" tool to darken those shadows around his cheeks, ears, forehead and it will add depth and contrast to the shot overall, you don`t need to have the monkey all darkened.
Well in fact, you if you had any of these editing programs, you would have more control of your mono conversions :)

Aw mate, through other people's journals I get to know more of your work. Excellent photo as well, although I think it'd be better if you'd capture a little bit more of the Ben :)

Thanks Cho,to my thinking on this one Big Bennys the side show to the sign in this one, hence the title ;p
There`ll be plenty more opportunities though to get a better shot of Ben,though I`m very bored of seeing it photographed to be honest :slow:

You're right. It's a lot more true to the title like this :)
And I totally get what you mean. That's on one hand a problem with capturing something so monumental (like Eiffel Tower, Pyramid of Gaza and Statue of Liberty)...everyone has seen it for a dozen times already. But on the other hand you still want to take a picture of it because that's one of the reasons you visit those places anyway. The vicious cycle continues
